Google App Engine Blows My Mind
It seems like every time Google releases a product it’s a game changer. Google App Engine is just another one of those products.
GAE allows a developer to easily write an application in Python and deploy it to a massively scalable infrastructure. It seems like a step up in both power and abstraction from Amazon’s Elastic Cloud.
With so many cool things included like Python, Django and Google’s persistence backend a short blog post like this can’t possibly due it justice. If anyone has the connections to hook me up with an account I’d like to do some experimenting and blog about it.

It is finally available.

Google Reader Enhancement Needed: Dup Remover
I have an idea for an extremely simple but useful feature. I want duplicate posts removed. I subscribe to a ton of RSS feeds and feeds that are aggregations of other feeds. This leads to a large amount of duplicate posts.
For instance, traceback.org is listed on Planet Python. Any post tagged with Python will show up on the Planet feed. Now lets pretend that you saw one of my Python posts and decided you liked some of my other content. Subscribing to my blog will lead to seeing my Python posts twice.
Google can I have this feature? Some friends have informed me of ways to do this on other software, but right now I am liking Google Reader.
